The dish was created from natural fossils of Orthoceras, an extinct marine creature that lived during the Paleozoic Era. The name comes from the Greek words "orthos," meaning straight, and "keras," meaning horn, due to their long, straight cone shape shells. These fossils are primarily found in marine sedimentary rocks made of limestone and shale from the Baltic States and Sweden. Great bowl for jewelry, crystals, or other small items.
